Yiddish Glory Concert

March 26, 2021

Music Artists in Residence guests Pavel Lion and Anna Shternshis present their Yiddish Glory program.

Singer/songwriter Pavel Lion (Psoy Korolenko) and Yiddish scholar Anna Shternshis (University of Toronto) bring their 2018 Grammy-nominated work Yiddish Glory: The Lost Songs of World War II to the Dickinson Community. Recreated from fragments of Yiddish songs discovered in a Kiev archive – a process of musical archeology and creative reconstruction – the songs revive the voice of Soviet Jews silenced by the regimes of Hitler and Stalin. This program is sponsored by the Dickinson College Music Residency Program along with The Truman & Beth Bullard Music & Culture Series and be held on the Dickinson Music Department YouTube Channel.
