CCLA Civic Skills Academy Part III: Inspiring Action

February 11, 2021

This workshop will explore ways to get folks on board, through telling stories, creating strong arguments, and appealing to audiences.

This workshop is the third of CCLA's four-session Civic Skills Academy in October and February. We highly encourage students to attend all four sessions.

Storytelling is a way of life. Storytelling serves as a vessel to capture your audience. It draws you in, teaches lessons, and establishes your voice and view on various topics. But how effective is your story? How convincing is it? Do you share stories in the oral tradition? Do you write it out? Are you telling a story through speeches or position papers? What story are you sharing when applying for grants for a nonprofit or social justice project? Every story starts with a word. And every word counts. This interactive workshop will give attendees the opportunity to explore the roots of their stories and experiment with methods to tell a compelling story, gain trust, and convince your audience.
