FaculTea: Prof. Karl Qualls: Stalin’s Niños

March 4, 2020

Stalin’s Niños examines how the Soviet Union raised and educated nearly 3,000 child refugees of the Spanish Civil War.

Professor Qualls will delve into his analysis of the archival record and numerous letters, oral histories, and memoirs which argue that this little-known story exemplifies the Soviet transformation of children into future builders of communism and illuminates the educational techniques shared with other modern states.

Visit Dickinson Scholar for the visual supplements that complement the book and FaculTea.

Immediately following the event, Prof. Qualls will be signing copies of Stalin’s Niños. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

The FaculTea Series at the Waidner-Spahr Library

A FaculTea is a brief, informal presentation about a faculty member's research.  Audiences are general and include students, faculty from all divisions, other college staff members, and visitors from the Carlisle community.  FaculTeas are popular with faculty and students and provide a chance for the entire community to learn about the richness of research activity at the college outside the classroom setting. FaculTeas also provide a unique opportunity for faculty members to interact with college and Carlisle community members they may not otherwise meet.
