In this panel, peer writing tutors from Dickinson College will conduct a close reading of transcripts from four different sessions to determine how tutors help or hinder writers’ self-direction.
We will consider how tutors read the needs of writers as they develop strategies for sessions. We will examine how directive and non-directive tutoring affect the self-directed learning process of writers. To conclude, we will provide strategies tutors can use to make sessions more conducive to self-directed learning.
