The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of students with respect to information maintained in their education records. Every Dickinson College employee who has access to such information has an obligation to maintain this confidentiality and to protect student privacy. What is an “education record”?
