Honeyland Film Screening at Carlisle Theatre

November 3, 2019

$5 with student ID

Our very own Carlisle Theatre will be playing Honeyland, a documentary about a European beekeeper.  Attached to this email is the flyer and the synopsis of the documentary.  Tickets are only $5 with student ID and the movie is sponsored by CSE, Food Studies, the French Department, and the College Farm!  Hope to see you buzzing on by the theatre!

Synopsis:
Hatidze lives with her ailing mother in the mountains of North Macedonia, making a living cultivating honey using ancient beekeeping traditions. When an unruly family moves in next door, what at first seems like a balm for her solitude becomes a source of tension as they, too, want to practice beekeeping, while disregarding her advice. This gorgeous documentary, filmed over three years and directed by Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska, was the most awarded effort of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, winning the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize, a Special Jury Award for Cinematography, and another Special Jury Award for Originality. It has–not to coin a phrase–Oscar buzz.
