Program Responsibilities: I am responsible for the following programs here at Dickinson: Learning Communities, Service-Learning, and the Conflict Resolution Resource Center. I serve as the advisor to Sustained Dialogue, the student-led effort to build constructive relationships across racial, ethnic, religious and other differences, and I am mentor to New York Posse 7. I also coordinate the Dickinson student submissions to the Katherine Wasserman Davis 100 Projects for Peace program.
Teaching: In the 2008-2009 year, I'll be teaching Conflict and Conflict Resolution Studies in the Fall Semester. For Spring 2009 I will be teaching Lived Religion and Inter-Group Relations in the Indian American Diaspora as part of the South Asian Diaspora Mosaic, along with Prof. Susan Rose and Prof. Sharon O'Brien. Other courses that I regularly teach include, Competing Truths: Religion and Conflict, New American Religious Diversity and Ethnography of Jewish Experience.

Collaborative Student Research: At Dickinson, I've been involved in two faculty-student collaborative research efforts:

  • research connected to my course on new immigrants and religious diversity, affiliated with Harvard University's Pluralism Project; and
  • research growing out of my 2004 First Year Seminar on Religion and Conflict, focusing on Carlisle's planned response to the expected Westboro Baptist Church anti-gay demonstrations in December 2004. Follow this link to the read this student research.

My Bio, Training, Publications, Fieldwork, etc.

New publication: “Assessing the Impact of Engaged Learning Initiatives for First-Year Students,” with Ashley Finley. Peer Review, Summer 2007, Volume 9, no. 3.
