East College

Proceeding down West Street we come to our first stop on the John Dickinson Campus. East College was originally constructed in 1836. The building provided space for residence halls, recitation rooms, and student social offices. During renovations in 1969, the building collapsed due to lack of foundation after complete removal of its internal structure. Today, East College is the center for humanities including the classical studies, English, philosophy, and religion departments.

Alumni may notice something missing from this photograph. A large white ash tree had stood the front of East College for over 125 years.
