Multi-Organization Board
The Dickinson College Multi-Organization Board (MOB) is comprised
of five committees charged with providing quality entertainment
for the entire campus. The following committees are included:
All College Events - The All-College Event Committee plans
six major events for the entire campus community. The events are
FallFest, the Snow Ball, the All-College Formal, SpringFest, and
two HUB All Night events. FallFest and SpringFest are outdoor events
bookmarking the academic year. The Snow Ball is a formal dance sceduled
for the last day of classes in the fall while the All-College Formal
commemorates the birthday of the college in February/March. HUB
All Night is a late-night campus event which can include themed
food, inflatable games, and video karaoke.
Arts and Culture - The Arts and Culture Committee plans
and organizes movies, lectures, and travel opportunities. Movies
can include new releases, cult classics, or movies you didn't ses
but should have. This committee also offers students opportunities
to travel each semester. Past trips have included New York, Washington
D.C.'s Cherry Blossom Festival, a New York Yankees baseball game,
and a walking tour of Philadelphia.
Concert - The concert committee sponsors both major concerts
and small shows scross campus. Large concerts feature popular music
acts at greatly discounted ticket prices. Smaller shows typicall
feature local or regional bands and are free to students.
Spirit - The Spirit Committee is responsible for helping
students feel part of the Dickinson community by encouraging attendance
at college sports and social events and by recognizing outstanding
achievements by students and student groups in intercollegiate athletics.
This committee also co-sponsors the Spirit Week activities in the
Fall and coordinates a week of activities in the Spring. You can
also find them giving food to students at multiple "Smorgasbords"
throughout the year.
Variety - The Variety Committee sponsors events such as
themed dance parties, coffeehouses, and comedians. In the past,
dance parties have included reggae, 80's and country. Coffeehouses
have been held in the Depot and the Quarry and have featured both
local and national artists. Past comedians include new stars and
seasoned veterans Dave Coulier, Lewis Black, and Jim Breuer. The
Flipside is a subcommittee of the Variety Committee and coordinates
events such as Laser Tag, Hypnotists, and unique performers. Some
events sponsored by this subcommittee include the Regurgitator,
Bizarre Magician Brian Brushwood, and Persona-Cards.
