Clubs and Organizations
There are over 120 clubs and organizations on the Dickinson College
campus. Students can find ways of expressing themselves through
participation in an a capella group, the Student Senate, ASIA, the
Dickinsonian, the Jive Turkeys, the Swing Dance Club, and many other
organizations. It's fun to find other people with similar interests
or, even better, try something that you'd never thought of doing
before. On the first night of classes for both the Fall and Spring
semester, Activities Night gives you the opportunity to meet students
involved in amazing organizations and then learn more about them.
Challenge yourself and find your way of becoming a Dickinsonian
through activities outside of the classroom.
Student Governance: The Student
Senate is the elected governing body for Dickinson College students.
The Senate is responsible for allocating the Student Activities
Fee, organizing elections for Senate, class officers, and student
representatives to all-College committees, and investigating and
making recommendations regarding students' grievances. The Senate
is headed by the Senate Cabinet (President, Vice-President, Treasurer,
Constitutional & Elections Chair, MOB Chair and Secretary).
The Senate body is elected from representatives chosen by class
year. Elections for executive officers, all-College committees,
Sophomore and Junior class officers and senators occur in the Spring.
Freshmen and Senior class officers and senators are elected in the
Fall.
College Governance: There are four all-College
committees which are comprised of students, faculty and administrators.
They assist the President and Deans in establishing and administering
institutional policy. Members serve as liaisons between students,
administrators and faculty. The four committees are: Planning and
Budget, Academic Program and Standards, Enrollment Management and
Student Life, and Information Technology. Student members of the
committees are elected by their peers and sit on Senate as voting
members.
Class Committees: Each class elects officers during
the fall elections to serve as the class committee for the year.
Class committees are responsible for promoting class unity and planning
social events for their class. Serving on your class committee is
a fun and easy way to get involved.
