What does Senate do?
Senate represents the students’ concerned to the faculty and administration. Senate is also responsible for allocating the Student Activities Fee to the various student organizations on campus.

How often does Senate meet?
Senate meets every Tuesday night in Denny 317 from 6-8pm.

Can anyone attend a Senate meeting?
Yes. Senate meetings are open to everyone and you are encouraged to come.

How do I become a member of Senate?
Run for election either in September or April (depending on the office). Please see the election information on the “Forms” page of this website for more information.

How do you start a new club?
You need 15 signatures of students who will be members of your club, and advisor, and a constitution to start a new club. The constitution needs to be approved by the CAEC committee (Constitutions and Elections Committee). Then the constitution is brought to the entire Senate to be voted on. What are All-College Committees?
They are faculty committees comprised of faculty, administration, and students. The four committees are Planning and Budget (P&B), Enrollment and Student Life (ESL), Academic Programming and Standards Committee (APSC), and Information Technology Services (ITS).

What does the Grievance Committee do?
The Grievance Committee addresses any ideas or complaints that students have. Examples are more printers needed in the library, more food options in the cafeteria, etc.

How do you apply for funds?
If you are a new group on campus you will apply for money through the Discretionary Fund. If you are an established group you will apply during the normal budget cycle. Please contact Senate Treasurer Matthew Sheehan for more information.

What are the Treasurer’s office hours?
Monday - 3:00 - 4:00
Tuesday - 11:50 - 12:20
Thursday - 11:50 - 12:20; 1:00 - 2:00
Friday - 1:30 - 3:00

Do Senate Cabinet members get paid?
No. We are officers because we enjoy it.
