Religious Organizations


There are many student groups on campus that are religiously organized. Please contact individual groups for more information, event schedules and meeting times.

Buddhism Meditation Classes
A group meets weekly with Lars English with an emphasis on using Buddha's teachings practically in our busy modern lives to find greater happiness and inner peace. The class consists of a mix of teachings, meditations and discussions. The teachings are rooted in the Kadampa tradition - a Mahayana Buddhist lineage. Meets Thursdays 6:00- 7:00 pm. Blue Mountain Lotus Society, a Buddhist sangha based in Harrisburg, offers weekly Zen meditation Shikantaza) and fellowship under the leadership of Brooke Wiley. This group practices mindfulness and compassionate action, based on Shakyamuni Buddha's historical teachings, utilizing the Dharma to relieve suffering. This group meets Thursdays 6-7 pm. Dickinson Christian Fellowship
A part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, this group meets for worship weekly on Monday evenings at 7pm and has several small group Bible studies each week.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Athletes from all teams meet weekly for a time of Bible study and fellowship. They also participate in other events on campus together and service projects. Meetings are Thursdays at 8:30 pm in Althouse 110.

Hillel (Jewish) Hillel is a Jewish Organization for the Dickinson College community dedicated to providing opportunities for religious observance, cultural awareness, and Tikkun Olam (Community Service).

Muslim Student Association
This group of students of the Muslim faith build community and understanding of the Muslim culture and religious traditions through holiday celebrations, small group gatherings, and club meetings. This is a reorganizational year to bring MSA back into the fold of active student religious life groups on campus. Transportation is available to the Islamic Peace Center for Friday services at 1:15pm. Contact MSA.

Newman Club (Catholic)A group of Catholic students who hold weekly meetings in Durbin classroom, Old West on various topics (Wednesday 7 pm), pray the rosary, perform community service, and host other fellowship events throughout the semester. Mass (7:30 pm) and the Sacrament of Confession (6:45 pm) are held Sunday night and Holy Days in Memorial Hall, Old West with our campus priest, Father Dwight Schlaline, in conjunction with our local parish, St. Patrick's. Father Dwight's office hours are held on Wednesday's from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m in the Durbin Classroom. Contact: newman@dickinson.edu

Secular Students United  
To provide a community on campus for those identifying as secular, especially those that identify as nonbelievers. Further, to educate the college community about the separation of church and state and nonbelief. Meets Tuesday at 7:00pm in the HUB sideroom 203.
