Insurance Billing
Health Services does not bill insurance companies for charges, but provides an itemized receipt upon check-out so these charges may be submitted to your insurance carrier.
Students should have their insurance card with them while at college. Costs for medical care provided by local medical facilities or specialists are the students' responsibility. Most billing offices will submit a claim to insurance on the student's behalf. However, students should be ready to pay the co-payment at the time of visit, if it is required by their insurance company. Many offices will not send a bill home to parents for the co-pay. If you belong to a Managed Care network such as a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), you must notify them of the visit and charges by phone within a certain time (usually 24 hours) in order to be reimbursed for the expense. Each insurance carrier is different, so you should familiarize yourself with your companies' guidelines for notification and reimbursement.
Medications not carried by Health Services
If a medication is needed that is not stocked in the Health Center, a prescription will be written. Health Services does not fill prescriptions written by an off-site provider. Your prescription can be filled at any of the local pharmacies. A medical transport van is available to students, free of charge . Our office also has a delivery arrangement with the following pharmacies for students who are on a long-term prescription medication:
Rite Aid Pharmacy (all locations)
Delivery is available Monday - Friday; free of charge. Refills can be set up automatically or by phone,
as needed. The pharmacy will call the student for delivery and payment instructions on the day that the
medication is scheduled to be delivered.
Quality Care Pharmacy
Delivery to Health Services is available Monday - Friday; free of charge. In order for an account to be
established, a credit card is required for the co-pay. Refills can be set up automatically or by phone,
as needed. Health Services will notify students by e-mail on a daily basis that the prescription has arrived
and can be picked up.
