Staff of Religious Life and Community Services


Supporting over 250 students in weekly service in the community, 13 weekly service programs, 3 service trip student groups, 12 religious life student groups, and working with partners throughout the college and campus community means we are always busy.  The staff in the Office of Religious Life and Community Services is here to help connect students, faculty, staff and community together in a myraid of ways.  The staff consists of professional and student staff ready to assist you at any time. We look forward to hearing from you.

Mira graduated from York College with a BA in Behavioral Sciences and minors in Religion and Education.  She then attended Princeton Theological Seminary, gaining Masters of Divinity and Masters of Youth Ministry.  Mira started as associate pastor at Allison United Methodist Church in Carlisle.  After a year, she came on staff at Dickinson in this role since Fall 2007. 

Her interests include working with young people (youth and college) around religious and identity development.  She grew up doing service with many organizations, loves to travel, and is passionate about service trips.  Today all those areas of interest have combined in her work with many local community partners and leading service trips domestically and internationally at Dickinson.

Mira lives in Carlisle with Kaya, a spaniel mix, who keeps life interesting.  She also enjoys reading mystery novels and relieves stress at the gym.

Amy graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.   She has over fifteen years experience in Human Resource Management.  After taking a leave of absence to stay at home with her daughters, she returned to the workforce part time.   

Amy started at Dickinson College in the fall of 2008 as a Staff Assistant in the Conferences and Special Events Department.  In this position she tracked all of the campus events, handled the Guest House reservations, and various other clerical responsibilities.  Amy joined the Religious Life and Community Service Department as an Administrative Assistant in February 2010 and has grown to enjoy the choas of all the activities of religious life and community service.  She enjoys working with student leaders and seeing them grow.

Taylor comes from McLean, VA and graduated from Dickinson College with a degree in Psychology in 2011.  While at Dickinson she was involved in APO, the service fraternity, and studied abroad in Malaga Spain. She completed an honors thesis based on economic decision making.  And worked as a student leader in Orientation.

Beyond her work, Taylor likes to cook and running outdoors.  She is also new to and loving yoga. 

Taylor will work with CommServ and Day of Service as she combines her interests in community service and leadership development.  This position will help her discern a future vocation potentially in higher education administration.

 


Mike

 Michael is a senior from Califon, NJ and working as the Montgomery Service Leaders Intern.  He works with the MSL to guide and mentor students to develop leadership and service skills as they work within the Carlisle community.  MSL currently has 33 students in placements throughout the greater Carlisle area.   

Michael is also a tour guide and student interviewer for the Admissions Office.  In his free time he likes to watch sports and movies, jump rope, and hang out with friends.  After college he plans to enter graduate school, Teach for America, or the Peace Corps.

Ryan is a junior from Norwood PA. This semester she will be working on special projects that bring awareness to Dickinson about community needs and service options.  She is using her experience as a co-coordinator of Empower, an afterschool program to find new and creative ways to get Dickinson students involved on campus and in the community.

Ryan is also involved with Jive Turkeys Ultimate Frisbee, serves as a student hearing panelist and works in the library.

Catie is a sophomore from New Castle, Pa. As an office assistant, Catie will help the office to run smoothly; answering questions and assisting with administrative pieces of the office.   

She is the coordinator of the ESL program on campus, a writer for The Dickinsonian, member of College Democrats and The Wellness Living House.  She also works as a teaching assistant in the Spanish Department and student writer for Media Relations. For fund she enjoys listening to the Backstreet Boys, writing, reading classics, and watching movies.    


Josh

   Josh is a senior from Durham, NH and the Service Trips Leader.  Josh wants to help to streamline and standardize the process for service trips offered through the office.  He also wants to empower student coordinators to train the student participants to learn and have fun on each trip. 

  

Josh is involved in Mock Trial on campus and a Global Ambassador through the Office of Global Education.  He enjoys playing basketball, reading, and conversations with friends.  After college Josh hopes to work in public service or education.

 Paige is a senior from Rockville MD and the CommServ Leader.  She oversees 14 weekly service groups on campus and helps support these coordinators to build strong relationships and programs with community partners.  She hopes to continue to inspire new volunteers and strengthen CommServ throughout the year.   

Paige is involved in the Syrens, a female singing group on campus.  In her free time she enjoys swimming, singing, and running.  She also loves to travel and hang out with her sisters.  After Dickinson she hopes to continue to study biology and geology.  She also wants to continue to participate in service trips beyond college.   

  

 

 

 

 


Martin

Martin is a junior from New York City.  His is responsible for CommServ as the Treasurer, helping groups to use their budgets in the best way possible.  He has the creative role of managing budgets for 14 community service groups that involve over 250 students and 400+ community members. 

He has participated in LeaderShape, a week-long leadership development program and is a strong advocate for this opportunity.  In his down time he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing soccer, and running outdoors.  After graduation he hopes to stay on the east coast and work in the entertainment industry.  His long-term goal is to run his own non-profit organization.

Morgan T

Morgan is a sophomore from Bernardsville NJ and will be working with Day of Service, which provides one-time opportunities to learn about and make a difference in the local community.  She hopes to increase the number of programs offered and to have more people participate in these programs. 

On campus she is also a co-coordinator for Special Friends, a weekly service program partnering special needs children and youth with campus mentors.  She is involved in the Delta Nu sorority, the Dickinsonian (college newspaper), Serve the World (service trips), and has been an Orientation Assistant.  Between community service and all her other activities Morgan keeps busy at Dickinson!
