Staff of Community Service and Religious Life


Supporting over 250 students in weekly service in the community, 13 weekly service programs, 3 service trip student groups, 12 religious life student groups, and working with partners throughout the college and campus community means we are always busy.  The staff in the Office of Community Service and Religious Life is here to help connect students, faculty, staff and community together in a myraid of ways.  The staff consists of professional and student staff ready to assist you at any time. Amy graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.   She has over fifteen years experience in Human Resource Management.  After taking a leave of absence to stay at home with her daughters, she returned to the workforce part time. 

Amy started at Dickinson College in the fall of 2008 as a Staff Assistant in the Conferences and Special Events Department.  In this position she tracked all of the campus events, handled the Guest House reservations, and various other clerical responsibilities.  Amy joined the Office of Community Service and Religious Life as an Administrative Assistant in February 2010 and has grown to enjoy the choas of all the activities of religious life and community service.  She enjoys working with student leaders and seeing them grow.   

 


Amanda

Amanda Hanson, the Program Coordinator for Community Service, is originally from Richmond, Virginia, but recently lived in West Virginia for several years. She is a four-term AmeriCorps Alumna who served with both AmeriCorps NCCC and VISTA, and she thoroughly enjoys talking about the AmeriCorps experience with interested students. Amanda received her M.A. in College Student Development and Administration from Shepherd University in 2012. Amanda’s favorite thing about working in the office is to see students connect with the community, serve, and learn something new about themselves in the process. In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, photography, and baking.

Rachel Jordan

Montgomery Service Leaders

Rachel is a senior from Bedford, New Jersey. As the Montgomery Service Leaders Senior Intern, she will help the Montgomery Service Leaders continue to grow in its second year by fully implementing the Level 2 and Level 3 programs, bringing in a promising new class, and continuing to improve MSL's impact on campus and in the community.

She is also a part of the Varsity softball team, Alpha Phi Omega, Pre-Health Society. During her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling and photography.

After college, she plans to attend physician assistant school and hopefully specialize in pediatrics.

Ryan Corbett

Ryan is a senior from Norwood, PA. This year, she will be joining the office as one of the Commserv Leaders. She hopes to allow Commserve to be a fun activity to participate in and facilitate the oordinators to use each other as resources. 

Ryan is also involved with Jive Turkeys Ultimate Frisbee, serves as a student hearing panelist and is a library student supervisor.  

After college, she plans to attend law school in Boston.

Catie Duckworth

Catie is a junior from New Castle, Pa. As an office assistant, Catie will help the office to run smoothly; answering questions and assisting with administrative pieces of the office.  

 She is the coordinator of the ESL program on campus, a writer for The Dickinsonian, member of College Democrats and The Wellness Living House.  She also works as a teaching assistant in the Spanish Department and student writer for Media Relations. For fund she enjoys listening to the Backstreet Boys, writing, reading classics, and watching movies.

Colleen Berger

Service Trips

Colleen is a senior from Charlottesville, VA. Colleen is the new Service Trip Leader who will be planning, organizing, and helping run the service trips. She will also be co-leading a service trip retreat in September to help prepare service trip coordinators for the work they will do during the year for each trip. In addition to co-leading the retreat, Colleen will also work closely with the coordinators to organize the logistics for each trip, host fundraisers, hold weekly meetings for the trip participants, and provice assistance on several of the service trips.

On campus, Colleen is also a peer educator for the group YES PLEASE, which provides support and awareness of gender violence and sexual harrasment. She is also a member of the Feminist Collective, Spectrum, and of the Orientation Leader staff. For fun, she enjoys going hiking, playing outside, reading and cooking.

After graduation, Colleen plans to join the Peace Corps.

Caitie Simpson

Catie is a sophomore from Great Falls, Virginia. As a CommServ-Co leader, she will work towards making a positive impact in the Carlisle Community and make new life long partnerships with community partners.

On campus, Catie is also involved with, the Syrens, Ski Club, and the Spanish Club.


Antonia

Antonia Johnson

Antonia is a senior from Los Angeles, CA. As the new student coordinator of Day of Service, she will be  organizing community service events that will provide students with opportunities to give back to the community without taking too much time out of their busy schedules. She hopes to expose Dickinsonians to the much need dimension of community service and by providing these small but impactful events, she hopes students will see there is always a little spare time to reach others through service.

On campus, she is also a student service trip leader, the President of Habitat for Humanity and a member of Wheel in Chain.

After graduation, Antonia plans to enroll in a medical school.

Esme rejoins the student staff after a semester abroad for Fall 2012. As a senior, Esme brings expertise with website designs and willingness to share all the great work of the office.

After graduation, Esme hopes to move back to Los Angeles, California, attend grad school and soak up the sun.
