Room Selection

Please review the new information regarding Spring 2011 room selection. The room selection process for Spring 2011 includes changes from the Spring 2010 process. These changes were developed through a partnership with the Office of Campus Life and Student Senate during the 2010-2011 academic year.

Welcome to the Room Selection process for the 2011-2012 academic year. The online housing selection program, MyHousing, can be accessed through the Student Resources tab of your Gateway. On this program, students can view their lottery time, set roommate preferences, view available housing options, and select a housing assignment. There are three major steps in order to complete the online housing process:

  • Roommate preferencing
  • Exploring room options
  • Room selection

Please read through the information on this page and in the attached documents, as it will answer most of your questions. If you still have questions, please attend one of the information sessions, stop by the Office of Campus Life during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM), or email us at campuslife@dickinson.edu.

April 2011 Calendar of Online Room Selection Events

 Instructional Guides:

Roommate Preference Card All students are strongly encouraged to complete this form and submit a copy to the Office of Campus Life. This form allows students to have multiple back-up options in the event that their first choice of housing assignments isn't available at the time of room selection. All students living in mixed-gender or mixed-classyear roommate groups must complete this form and submit to the Office of Campus Life. This card is also available at the Office of Campus Life. Roommate Preference and Agreement Cards are due to the Office of Campus Life by April 14th at 4:30pm.

MyHousing Tutorial with Screenshots
A guide to completing the three steps for room selection with accompanying screen shots of MyHousing to assist in learning how to navigate the program.

Due to a software upgrade affecting the MyHousing system in the Spring of 2011, some screenshots may appear slightly different than what is published in the tutorial. For example, font sizes or the color of certain text may be different than what is shown. No functional changes have been made that affect the way the system or selection process works. At the time of the release of these educational materials, new screenshots were not available. Campus Life is working with LIS to obtain these screenshots and will include them in the educational materials on our website as soon as we have them.

Quick Reference
A one-page reference guide on completing the three steps for room selection. All students (except graduating seniors) will also receive a paper copy of this quick reference in their HUB mailboxes after they return from Spring Break.

Proxy Instructions and Educational Information

This is a one-page instructional and educational guide on proxying for another student during room selection.

Housing Forms:

  Proxy Form
In the event a student needs a proxy because they cannot select housing at their appointed time, the student with the best lottery time needs to complete a Proxy Request form. All proxy requests are due by 4:30pm, Thursday, April 14th to the Office of the Campus Life.

Roommate Search Sheet
Students searching for a roommate can complete and submit a Roommate Search Sheet. Completed Roommate Search Sheets are kept on file in the Office of Campus Life and students may stop by to view and/or select a roommate from these sheets.

  • The Office of Campus Life will also be sponsoring a Roommate Search Mixer on April 14th at 5:00pm in the Bosler Atrium, to allow students to meet and talk with other students looking for roommate/room options.
