Resident Adviser Selection



 Resident Adviser selection is typically done early in the spring semester for the following academic year. The selection process is designed to help applicants get to know new people, learn about themselves, and gain important skills regardless of their status at the end of the selection process.

The Resident Adviser (RA) position plays an integral role within the Division of Student Life. Students selected to assume this important leadership role will have significant, focused responsibility for residential life in an assigned area.

RA's are enthusiastic students and leaders who have direct influence on campus culture and develop valuable leadership skills such as communication, rapport building and managing conflict while making a substantive contribution to the campus community.


To apply, candidates participate in a rigorous selection process that includes: 

    •    Completing an application and submitting two references. You will be emailed an application once you attend one of the information sessions listed below or by meeting with a staff member. By attending the information sessions, you’ll learn more about the role and have an opportunity to ask questions.
 

Spring 2011 Resident Adviser Recruitment/Selection Timeline for 2011-2012 Academic Year: 

    •    Monday, February 21, 2011 at 12 noon in the Mary Dickinson Room – RA Information Session 
    •    Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 5pm in the Mary Dickinson Room - RA Information Session 
    •    Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 7:30pm in the Mary Dickinson Room - RA Information Session
    •    Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 7:30pm in the Mary Dickinson Room - RA Information Session
    •    Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 5pm in the Mary Dickinson Room – RA Information Session
    •    Friday, March 4, 2011 at 12noon in the Mary Dickinson Room - RA Information Session
    •    Thursday, March 10, 2011 - RA Applications Due
    •    Friday, March 25, Saturday, March 26, Sunday, March 27 - RA Group Process

All candidates must participate in the RA Group Process for candidacy consideration.

Priority is given to candidates applying for the full academic year.
