Campus Life Recognized Organizations
Students interested in planning a one time or short term event or gathering may want to consider becoming a Campus Life Recognized Organization. This status was created by the Office of Campus Life and the Student Senate to allow students to reserve space without having to go through the process of becoming an officially recognized, full-time organization. Campus Life Recognized cannot go through the normal Student Senate budgeting process.
First, gather people who share your interest and begin discussing the group’s purpose. If there is a high level of interest, you should consider seeking Student Senate recognition rather than Campus Life recognition, thereby allowing you to request funding and receive organizational support. The processes for approval differ if you plan to reserve space on a regular basis or just once.
Regular Basis Reservations
- Write a letter of intent explaining the purpose of the group and the need for reservations. Less than one page is sufficient.
- Fill out the Campus Life-Recognition Agreement with signatures from a minimum of five members, agreeing to comply with the responsibilities and expectations of Campus Life-recognized groups.
- Contact the CAEC (Constitutional Affairs and Elections Committee) Chair to discuss your group and bring your forms when you meet.
Once you have received the approval of the CAEC Chair and a representative of the Office of Campus Life you will be contacted and informed whether you may reserve space with CASE.
One-time Reservation
- Write a letter of intent explaining the purpose of the group and need for the reservation. Less than one page is sufficient.
- Fill out the Campus Life-Recognition Agreement with signatures from a minimum of two members, agreeing to comply with the responsibilities and expectations of Campus Life-recognized groups.
- Turn the forms into the Office of Campus Life.
Once you have received the approval of a representative of the Office of Campus Life, you will be contacted and informed whether you may reserve space with CASE (Office of Conferences and Special Events).
