While the Chidokwan Karate Club is officially designated as a "club," it operates much like any martial arts school. The instruction is very structured, allowing students to progress through the Chidokwan belt system as they continue to learn and grow as martial artists. The club caters to all abilities and operates both a beginner and advanced class.

The karate club offers a formal beginner's class every fall semester that is specifically geared toward students with no prior martial arts experience. Students with previous martial arts training may join the karate club at any time upon permission of the instructors.

For futher information about the Karate Club please check out our Membership Section or contact Prof. Dick Forrester.

Chidokwan Karate is a blended style of karate-do that seamlessly combines traditional and more modern training methods and techniques. Chidokwan combines aspects of Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Boxing, American Sport Karate, and Modern Arnis. Traditional katas, mostly from the Shotokan system, play a major role in the ranking system of the style. However, practical street-oriented self-defense, sport competition, and a willingness to evolve are the hallmarks of the system.

The Chidokwan Karate Club trains in the  basement of Goodyear.
