Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K�12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton is seeking a full-time Spanish teacher for grades 9�12 for an opening beginning September 2009. The position involves teaching at all levels of language and literature, including Advanced Placement.
A bachelor degree and a concentration in Spanish Language and/or Spanish or Latin American Literature ARE REQUIRED. M.A. preferred. A minimum of 3 years teaching modern languages at the secondary and/or collegiate level is required.
Additional duties typically include residing and working in a dormitory, advising a student activity/club and/or coaching a team sport or intramural athletics. Teacher certification is not required. Other duties may be included. Demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential.

Visiting Faculty Member in Foreign Languages, Full-time position | Visiting Faculty Member in Foreign Languages:
Spanish and Second Language Acquisition, 1 year Temporary Position College of the Atlantic seeks a full-time faculty member in Spanish and Foreign Languages to begin no later than August 2009. The successful candidate must have experience teaching Spanish and will be responsible for teaching Spanish language at the intermediate and advanced levels to help students deepen their mastery of the language. The candidate must also have the ability to teach at least one other language at the introductory and intermediate levels. Also strongly desired is the ability to serve as an effective advisor and support person for students pursuing studies in less commonly taught languages. This is a temporary, replacement position which could start as early as the winter or spring trimesters of 2009. This position involves teaching five classes a year. Additional responsibilities include: advising students on language learning, directing final projects and independent studies, and collaborating with a visiting Spanish professor associated with the college's Yucatan Winter Term Program. |
This position requires: evidence of excellent language teaching skills and fluency in Spanish and competence to teach at least one other language as well. A Ph.D. in foreign languages or a closely related field is strongly preferred and the ability to teach in multiple languages is strongly desired. |
