Parent to Parent

We hope your Dickinson student is experiencing a year of academic challenge and personal growth. As parents of a student who spent the fall semester in Málaga, Spain, we continue to be delighted with his Dickinson experience. Although we are each particularly interested in our own student’s experience, the Parents Council has a mission to support the broader Dickinson community—the students, faculty and administration—through a variety of activities.

For the 2004/05 academic year, the Parents Council has refocused and organized into four subcommittees: Admissions, Student Life, Career Center and Communications. Each group is working with appropriate college administrators. At the fall Parents Council meeting, the teams identified specific activities in which Council members and individual parents may engage to strengthen Dickinson.

How Can You Help? There are three ways that each of us can support the college and our students’ investment in their education:

1. Contribute to the Parents Fund as generously as possible when asked.

2. Assist the Parents’ Fund Committee as a volunteer by soliciting fellow parents for gifts. Please e-mail vigiland@dickinson.edu

3. Enroll in the Dickinson Volunteer Network to assist the Office of Admissions. Please e-mail: dvn@dickinson.edu

These activities will require little individual time and effort but, collectively, can have a significant impact on Dickinson. Each member of the Parents Council has been asked to participate in the above. Won’t you join us in strengthening Dickinson by doing the same?
