Parent to Parent
Parents of Dickinson students are no strangers to growth. It began when our sons and daughters took their first breaths and wailed their first cries. We remember that day. We experienced it afresh when they took their first wobbling steps, ate their first ice cream cone, navigated a test in geometry and sat nervously behind the wheel of a car. Then, there was the first drive to Dickinson through some of the richest Pennsylvania farmland. Talk about growth. Just about everything sprouts and flourishes in that lush land. So it is with our children—“planted” in Carlisle for a few short years of almost immeasurable growth and development into young adults ready and able to tackle the wider world.
None of this would be possible at the levels we expect without the Dickinson Parents’ Fund. Yes, there are less expensive colleges and universities than Dickinson. Sure, our kids could “get by” somewhere else. Yet, that’s not what we want for our children. Your gift to the Parents’ Fund will enable the college to attract and retain the best faculty, sustain the quality of its academic programs and continue the holistic growth we want for these young men and women.
When you have an opportunity to give to the Dickinson Parents’ Fund, before you write the check, think back to those early years and how far your son or daughter has come. Then, look ahead and consider how big a horizon you’d like them to see. You’ll know what to do. After all, parents understand what it takes to provide for the harvest.
