Students visit Venezuela during Winter Break
January 2007
In January 2007, 19 Dickinson students and six faculty members and friends of Dickinson spent two and a half weeks in Venezuela armed with video cameras and notepads to visit with authors and government leaders and to get a sense of how ordinary people are participating in the transformation of their own society. The group visited numerous destinations from the capital, Caracas, to the cacao plantations of Choroní interviewing educators, students, doctors, farmers and members of the media, women's groups, cultural organizations and cooperatives.

The trip was organized as part of the class Venezuela: Democracy, Development and the Bolivarian Process taught by Susan Rose, professor of sociology, and Sinan Koont, associate professor of economics.
