Summer Storm hits Campus
August 25, 2007
A severe summer storm blew through Carlisle on Saturday, Aug. 25, with winds between 60 and 80 mph, flooding streets and blowing down hundreds of trees and limbs. The storm, which hit at about 7 p.m. and lasted only 15 minutes, left most of the campus without lights for more than 7 hours and took down or mortally wounded 20 trees on campus. The oldest tree damaged was a red maple that was more than six feet in diameter at the base. Several cars parked on and around campus also were damaged by falling trees and limbs.
