Dickinsonians Abroad
Beijing, China - February 16, 2006

East Asian Studies major Julia Eason '07 is spending the year at Dickinson's Beijing program for intensive study of Chinese language, culture and society. Thanks to a Dickinson alumnus and trustee, she had the exciting opportunity to meet a high-level official of the Chinese government.

Eason accompanied Woody Goldberg '63 to a meeting with the Foreign Minister of China, Li Zhaoxing. The meeting, which took place at Diaoyutai, an official state guesthouse in Beijing, involved discussions of trade, human rights, and Taiwan. Eason noted that "Colonel Goldberg and Minister Li were both such friendly and personable men, and made a mere college student feel so comfortable in such a professional setting. I am so thankful to the Colonel for giving me such a memorable evening."
