Washington County Teacher of the Year

Paula Moore
Paula Robinson Moore '94 was named Teacher of the Year in Washington County, Maryland, at an awards ceremony in Hagerstown. She will represent the Board of Education and teachers for the next year and will advance to compete at the state level.

Moore has been teaching French at Williamsport High School since she graduated from Dickinson. In addition to her BA in French, she has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She is one of the few French teachers in the county to be trained in teaching AP French Language and AP French literature.

In sharing her news, she wrote "I have to thank Dickinson College because my alma mater prepared me for the profession I truly love. My year abroad in Toulouse, France, combined with my French major and teacher certification, put me on the path to success."

Moore noted that her former French professor, Michael Kline, was one of the first to contact her with congratulations. "I have been fortunate to maintain ties with him professionally through the Northeast Conference of Teaching Foreign Languages," she wrote. "The French cycle continues because I have sent two of my students on to Dickinson, and Professor Kline taught them both--they also majored and minored in French."
