Response to Hurricane Katrina

Since February 2004, Brian Kamoie '93 has worked on emergency preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services while on loan from his faculty position at George Washington University.

An article in USA Today on Sept. 14, 2005 described his work in the Secretary's Operations Center at HHS. It said, "Kamoie's focus is the federal government's response to the crisis on Mississippi's Gulf coast. He is one of dozens of staffers working 12-hour shifts in the Op Center, acting as Secretary of Health Michael Leavitt's eyes on the crisis and helping to coordinate the agency's activities."

The article is available online at USATODAY.com.
