Six American composers were on hand for two days of music at Dickinson's American Vanguard Festival, featuring the Corigliano Quartet, Musical Artists in Residence. In addition to the quartet's namesake John Corigliano, the composers whose works were played were Paul Dresher, Brent Michael Davids, Jeffrey Mumford, Andrew Waggoner and Robert Pound, Dickinson College assistant professor of music.
The composers' music represents a wide range of styles and schools from contemporary American music. During pre-concert talks, they discussed their work and answered questions.
