Arizona Official Appears on "Now" with Bill Moyers

Marc Spitzer Marc Spitzer '79, a member of the Arizona Corporation Commission, will appear on the PBS program NOW with Bill Moyers. "Democracy in Danger," airing on Friday, November 1st, is a special broadcast on the state of our democracy on the eve of what could be the most important mid-term election in decades.

In 1998, Arizonans passed the Citizens Clean Election Act, offering candidates funding for public election campaigns. The Act is intended to improve the integrity of Arizona's government by diminishing the influence of special interest money. NOW with Bill Moyers travels to Arizona to examine the impact of this innovative initiative.

Marc Spitzer graduated from Dickinson with a major in Political Science and then attended the University of Michigan School of Law. After law school, Marc moved to Arizona and began his career as a tax attorney. In 1992, he ran for and was elected to the Arizona State Senate. He served in the Legislature as Chair of the Judiciary and Finance Committees and was elected to the position of Senate Majority Leader in 1996.

NOW with Bill Moyers will be broadcast on PBS at 9:00 pm ET/PT on Friday, November 1st. Your local PBS station may show it at a different time; check the schedule here.
