 Opening Convocation - August 28, 2005
On Sunday, August 28, 2005, the College officially began the 2005-2006 academic year. The Academic Procession of faculty, administrators and the members of the class of 2006
assembled in Britton Plaza and proceeded to the John Dickinson Campus, where President Durden convened the college.
A number of academic achievements were recognized, including the Senior and Junior sophisters, and the Shuman Prize winners. Professor Marcus Key Jr., the 2005 recipient of the Ganoe Award for Inspirational Teaching, passed along tips in "The Top Ten Pieces of Advice for Students." Student Senate President Samantha C. Calloway '06 and the Alumni Council President Brian E. Kamoie '93 spoke, and President Durden addressed the convocation on "Defying Your Generation's Stereotypes - Dickinson Style."
