The long-standing partnership between Dickinson College and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) is never more evident than during the summer, when hundreds of young dancers come to Carlisle to attend CPYB's acclaimed summer ballet program.

CPYB is a pre-professional ballet school whose more than 20,000 alumni are found in nearly every major U.S. ballet company. Its ties to Dickinson were made official in 2010, when the college established a joint dance-certification program that allows theatre & dance students to take full advantage of CPYB resources and also awarded an honorary degree in performing arts to CPYB founder and artistic director Marcia Dale Weary. Dickinson additionally hosts occasional CPYB concerts and houses hundreds of young CPYB dancers for five weeks each summer.

This year, 550 dancers from 39 states and seven counties are enrolled in the camp, and the majority stay overnight at Dickinson, just a few blocks from the CPYB studios.  They sleep in the college's residence halls, eat in the dining hall and use Dickinson's four dance studios. And at the end of the day, they are free to unwind in Dickinson's social spaces, library and athletics facilities.
