Gabi Morichi
“I love seeing the residents’ faces light up,” says Gabi Morichi ’25 (music), an a cappella singer and aspiring music therapist who’s currently conducting a study on the benefits of music programs on local dementia patients. A self-proclaimed “kitten expert” (she and her mom have fostered 47 kittens!), Morichi discusses her research internship, favorite class and more below.

About my internship:
I am currently interning at the Centre for Music and Mental Health with Dr. Nancy Farber, visiting assistant professor in psychology. It is a study where we are starting a choir in a dementia unit in a nursing home in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. We did psychiatric evaluations with residents at the facility to evaluate cognitive function, loneliness, depression and quality of life. We did the evaluations before starting the choir, and we will do them again after the choir ends. I am an aspiring music therapist, so this opportunity was right up my alley. I love getting to see how the residents’ faces light up when we walk in the room and when they sing with us. When we leave the facility, the residents are in great spirits, and seeing how music has this impact on them makes it all worth it.
Little-known hobby/talent:
I’m kind of a kitten expert; over the last four years my mom and I have fostered 47 kittens!
