Hometown:

Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Major

Italian studies.

Clubs and organizations:

Italian Club, DMAX and German Club.

Change A Life, Change the WorldHonors/scholarships/awards:

Benjamin Rush Scholarship.

Best thing about my Dickinson experience:

The friends I have met here. I love meeting people from all different walks of life who help each other grow and learn. The student body at Dickinson is full of so many interesting and amazing people that I am so grateful to have met and become friends with.

Best thing about my major:

The faculty. The Italian-studies professors are some of the most personable and helpful people I have met in my time at Dickinson. They have allowed me to meet my fullest potential linguistically and have been nothing but helpful when it comes to assignments.

Favorite class/learning experience so far:

Italian 232 with Visiting International Scholar Francesco Samarini. Throughout the semester, we studied Italian music from all different genres and time periods. At the end of the semester, we had to present a five-minute talk on a self-crafted argument relating to music in Italy. Mine pertained to LGBT representation in the industry. I loved this class so much because we had the opportunity to make a claim and defend it in front of a large audience.

Favorite professor so far:

Professor of Italian and Film Studies Nicoletta Marini-Maio. She truly wants me to grow not only as a student but also as an individual. She is so passionate about Italian film, and that is so apparent when seeing how much she wants her students to succeed. She understands that students are human beings and treats them as such!

Proudest accomplishment so far:

I have learned two languages within the past six years.

About my internship:

I interned at La Gazzetta Italiana, an Italian-American newspaper. It appealed to me because I love Italian culture and at the time, I was considering going into journalism. I learned about how to balance what a target audience would want to read with something that I’d be interested in talking about.

If I could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, it would be …

… Kacey Musgraves.

Best piece of advice:

You can’t change what happens in life; you can only change your reaction to it.
