Durden Athletic Training Center Progress

As progress is made in erecting the skeleton of the new Durden Athletic Training Center, a particular piece of the structure recently took center stage.

In appreciation of the generosity displayed by Sam Rose '58 and Julie Walters with their leadership investment in the Durden Center, more than 100 Dickinson students, parents, alumni and staff signed one of the building's support beams during Wednesday's men's lacrosse semifinal game.

Three days later, after the Centennial Conference championship game, William G. Durden '71 showed Rose the beam before they jointly presented the championship trophy to the Dickinson team.

Covered with signatures and heartfelt messages of thanks, the 23-foot-long beam also sent a strong message of philanthropy to the hundreds of parents, alumni and students in attendance. It can be seen on site for the next couple of days, before it is installed, marking further advancement on the project.
