Dickinson College Choir to Perform Verdi’s ‘Requiem’ with the Hershey Symphony

Iconic Choral Music Featured in Multiple Events
The Dickinson College Choir plans a series of events surrounding its performance of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi’s powerful Requiem. The major choral work is a musical setting of the Catholic funeral mass for four soloists, double choir and orchestra. It was first performed in 1874.

The Dickinson College Choir invites the public to a free, open rehearsal of Verdi’s Requiem.
Film Screening

The public is invited to a screening of the film Defiant Requiem, which tells the story of how inmates of the Nazi concentration camp Terezín fought back using Verdi’s music.

The Dickinson College Choir and Assistant Professor of Music James Martin (baritone) will join forces with the Hershey Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Sandra Dackow; the Hershey Festival Choir; and the Elizabethtown College Chorus for a performance of Verdi’s Requiem.
