How has Dickinson prepared you for your future?

Dickinson has provided me with many opportunities to enhance my teaching abilities. I have been a peer tutor for fellow college students; been paired with high school students in geometry, algebra and calculus; been a teaching assistant for different calculus courses; and worked in the math help room. Now that I have completed a bachelor's degree in mathematics, I am ready to focus on preparing to teach the next generation.

Internship Experience

As I am going into teaching, I have spent my time teaching and working with students. I am a summer violin teacher at Fleetwood High School, a private tutor for many high-school students and a camp counselor at the YMCA.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

I live in a suite with seven other people. There are certain nights when we will all come back at the same time after not seeing each other in a while due to busy schedules. We will all share the ups and downs of the week, and it reminds me of the community that Dickinson fosters. It is a small school where we each have the ability to pursue a variety of hobbies and interests and then share them with each other. I also feel the strong sense of community in the Dining Hall. I am a student supervisor, so I meet many freshmen at the beginning of each year. I love eating dinner together each night before shift because I will stare down the table and watch each one glow about the new adventures they had that day and then bond during the shift with others who have completely different majors and are involved in completely different activities.
