Artists-in-Residence DIVA Jazz Orchestra, an all-female group, will perform a concert of jazz standards and original works at Dickinson on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter (ATS) Auditorium. The concert is partially made possible by the Cecil Andrew and Adelaide Ewing Fund.
On Monday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., the DIVA Jazz Orchestra also will screen the 2013 documentary The Girls in the Band, a poignant look at female jazz and big-band instrumentalists and their groundbreaking journeys from the late 1930s to the present day. A panel discussion will follow. The screening will take place in the Rubendall Recital Hall, Weiss Center for the Arts. The residency also includes classroom visits and workshops, a jazz band jam and outreach in a local elementary school through a program funded by Mary Stuart-Smith ’69.
