Campus Dining Praised for Sustainability, Options

Dickinson has again been recognized as one of the top U.S. colleges for food by The Daily Meal. The restaurant, recipe and lifestyle website placed Dickinson among its top 75 colleges for food at No. 49. This is the fourth consecutive year Dickinson has made the list.

The website highlighted Dickinson’s commitment to sustainability through its dining service by composting 100 percent of the college’s food waste and focusing on seasonally available food options. In addition, The Daily Meal noted, “organic fruits and vegetables are grown on Dickinson's College Farm,” which also offers farm-to-table meals and cooking and food preservation classes.

The Daily Meal rankings are based on research of the dining services of roughly 2,000 colleges. Specific criteria include nutrition, sustainability, accessibility, service, education and food options for off-campus dining. Dickinson benefited from its close relationship to Carlisle. The Daily Meal called out some of the unique restaurants Carlisle has to offer: Miseno’s, Massey’s and Leo’s, which was named one of the nation’s best ice cream shops by TripAdvisor.
