“I support Dickinson athletics because my son, Sam, has had a great experience in the program. Sam is thriving at Dickinson. It has been the perfect balance for him—leadership opportunities on and off the court, a semester abroad in Málaga, Spain, challenging courses and great friendships.”

A former Division III college athlete herself, Martha Loring P’18 loves watching her son, Sam, benefit from the same balance of competitiveness, teamwork, commitment and academics that defined her college experience.

Sam, an international business & management major, Spanish minor and captain of Dickinson’s men’s tennis team, chose Dickinson because he was looking for a challenging experience in a small liberal-arts setting, and Martha says that Dickinson “has delivered for him.”

A dog-lover, sports enthusiast, world traveler, platform tennis player and mother of two (her daughter, Emma, is a rising sophomore at Colby College), Martha is an assistant racquets professional at Spring Brook Country Club in New Jersey during the summer months and a ski patroller at Copper Mountain in Colorado during the winter. She chose to support Sam’s experience by making a John Dickinson Society-level gift to support the tennis program through the McAndrews Fund for Athletics.
