The Chiara String Quartet, featuring Rebecca Fischer and Julie Hye-Yung Yoon (violin), Jonah Sirota (viola) and Gregory Beaver (cello), presents an all-Schubert program. Selections include String Quartet no. 13 in A Minor, op. 29; String Quartet no. 12 in C Minor (Quartettsatz); and String Quartet in C Major, op. posth. 163, featuring contributing faculty Michael Cameron (cello).

Contributing faculty Shirley King (organ) will perform solo works by Bach and Lau. She will be joined by organist Brian Rotz, music director at St. John’s Episcopal Church, for selections by Antonio Soler (Concerto no. 3 in G), John Rutter, Charles Callahan and Gustav Merkel (Psalm Sonata for Two Organists).
Creative Writing Lectureship: Clamor: The Poetics of Wartime

Award-winning author Elyse Fenton reads from her poetry collection Clamor, winner of the 2010 University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize and the Cleveland State University Press First Book Prize, and discusses how her investigation of the language of wartime found its poetic form. Co-sponsored by the Belfer Creative Writing Lectureship and The Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues.

This exhibition will explore ways in which artists have engaged the full range of sensory experience through works representing a variety of media, cultures and historical periods. Curated by senior art-history majors under the direction of Elizabeth Lee, assistant professor of art history.
tyvie|music: Music for Horn, Electronics and Visual Multimedia

Contributing faculty Tyler Ogilvie (horn) and Eun Ae Baik-Kim (piano) present traditional music for the horn while also exploring its integration with the evolution of technology, utilizing amplified sound effects, prerecorded soundtracks and visually and musically synced video projection.

She is joined by Blanka Bednarz (violin) and Daniel Brye (viola) from Dickinson and Johanna Hartman Levi (violin) and Ellen Eager (cello) from Elizabethtown College.

Exhibiting drawings on paper and ceramics as well as ceramic sculpture, Ethan Grosso ’11 explores anxieties and desires related to overpopulation and competition for resources. Grosso is the 2011-12 art & art history department’s post-baccalaureate artist-in-residence.
