Charter Day celebrates the history of the college and the impact of philanthropy

Charter Day is Dickinson’s annual celebration of the September 9, 1783, signing of its charter—a day to reflect upon the long history of the college and its ongoing legacy.

“It’s important to remember that Dickinson has so much history, given the fact that it’s one of the oldest schools in the country,” said Rinaldys Castillo ’17 (biochemistry & molecular biology). “The fact that we get this day to come and celebrate that, I think it’s pretty amazing.”

As usual, the event this year was full of food and fun, punctuated by Yuengling Ice Cream, donated by Ellen and David Yuengling ’84.

Sponsored by the Devils' Advocates Student Philanthropy Council and the Office of Engagement & the Dickinson Fund, the event also celebrated the college's rich tradition of philanthropy, which helps to make the Dickinson experience possible.
