Alumni Weekend offers opportunities to reconnect and re-engage

Dickinsonians from around the world returned to campus Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12, for Alumni Weekend, a celebration of the college’s past, present and future. In addition to giving alumni the chance to reconnect with one another, the weekend featured a series of events to help them re-engage with the college.

Alumni College sessions on topics ranging from the Civil War to leukemia research offered participants the chance to experience the distinctive liberal-arts education that defined their shared Dickinson experience. Reunion dinners, a whiskey tasting and a farm-to-table dinner brought alumni together for camaraderie and community. A canoe trip on the Susquehanna River, the Little Red Devils' Kid Zone and a 5K fun run offered fun for the whole family. The McAndrews Fund Golf Tournament helped raise funds for Dickinson athletics while giving alumni the chance to enjoy a day on the links.

Honoring Dickinsonians

The Alumni Awards ceremony honored three notable Dickinsonians for professional achievements and service to the college. John Paz ’78 earned the Distinguished Alumni Award for Professional Achievement in recognition of his 30 years as mentor and motivator and as owner of Godwin Pumps, a worldwide equipment sales, manufacturing and rental business. Brittany Sunshine '09 received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award for her work as a member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Ebola Response International Task Force. The college also honored John Heath '71 with the Walter E. Beach Distinguished Alumni Award for Service for volunteer work that included organizing 2015's 100th-anniversary celebration of Dickinson's Interfraternity Council.

Getting social
