Promoting Peace Through Green Energy

Expert in small biogas systems to speak on sustainability

Yair Teller, the founder and chief scientist of HomeBiogas, will discuss how his company is improving sustainability, encouraging peace and improving the quality of life in developing countries during a lecture at Dickinson. His talk, “The Business of Peace through Green Energy: The HomeBiogas Story,” will be held on Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the Stern Center Great Room

HomeBiogas is a groundbreaking company based in Israel that develops affordable devices to recycle household waste into cooking gas and fertilizer. It has received positive attention from U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and was identified as a viable solution for green energy at the Paris Climate Talks.

Teller is an internationally recognized expert on small biogas systems. His research interests include waste management, green energy and aquatic biology. Teller is also devoted to HomeBiogas’s social-justice mission to provide accessible biogas to developing countries and diverse communities within Israel.

The lecture is sponsored by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues and Student Senate and co-sponsored by the departments of Judaic studies, Middle East studies and earth sciences, the Center for Sustainability Education, the Center for Sustainable Living, J Street U and the Geology Club.
