The Green Dozen

The 2016 Baird Sustainability Fellows.

12 students named 2016 Baird Fellows

Dickinson has named 12 students representing 11 majors Baird Sustainability Fellows this year. Each brings a unique perspective to the post, which calls for joint scholarship and leadership, as they work to build a more sustainable world.

Named after Spencer Fullerton Baird, a prominent 19th-century naturalist and Dickinson alumnus, the Baird program recognizes a handful of Dickinson seniors each year who have helped advance sustainability goals through leadership, scholarship and service. Each fellow must enroll in a half-credit, interdisciplinary honors colloquium this spring and produce substantial scholarly or service work related to sustainability. They also must maintain a high grade-point average and high standard of conduct, embodying the values of civic responsibility, environmental stewardship, social justice and global-mindedness.
