Life’s Challenges

Sean Maloney

Former Intel executive to discuss the successful career and health setback that landed him on the cover of ‘Fortune’

Dickinson will host a lecture by Sean Maloney, former executive vice president of Intel Corporation, who will discuss his career, the technology industry, and setbacks in life and business. The event, “Life’s Challenges,” will take place on Monday, March 2, at 7 p.m. in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter (ATS) Auditorium. It is free and open to the public and will be available online via live stream as part of the college's One College One Community initiative.

Maloney, whose career at Intel spanned three decades, will discuss the challenges that Intel and the Silicon Valley high-tech industry overcame, the challenges China currently poses to the semiconductor sector of the U.S. economy and his own personal challenges as a stroke survivor.

During Maloney’s tenure at Intel, he was general manager of the sales and marketing group, chief sales and marketing officer and chief of staff to Andy Grove, Intel’s legendary former chief executive officer. He successfully led the growth of Intel into the Chinese and Asian markets and was chairman of Intel China for nearly two years. After suffering a stroke, he retired from Intel in 2013 to pursue a new business venture and to spread awareness about stroke prevention and the importance of technology and healthcare. His story was featured on the September 2011 cover of Fortune magazine and he has since been appointed chairman of the Silicon Valley American Heart Association’s board of directors.

The event is sponsored by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues. For more information, call 717-245-1875.
