Pipelines in Pennsylvania

Dickinson’s Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM) will host “Pipelines in Pennsylvania,” a panel discussion about pipeline development, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Allison Hall Community Room, 99 Mooreland Avenue. It is free and open to the public.

Residents of Cumberland County recently received mail announcing a new proposed pipeline and plans to update an existing pipeline. The event serves to educate residents about the ecological, social, cultural and economic impacts of natural-gas pipelines, as well as policies and regulations surrounding pipelines, from a panel of experts. Panelists are Chief Whitewolf of the Northern Arawak Tribal Nation of Pennsylvania, Faith Zerbe of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, and Chad Nicholson of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. The panel presentation will be followed by roundtable discussions.

The event is organized by ALLARM and Heather Bedi, assistant professor of environmental studies. Funding support comes from ALLARM, Office of Student Life, the Center for Sustainability Education, and the sociology and environmental studies departments. For more information, call 717-245-1565 or email allarm@dickinson.edu.
