Class of 2015 members called to leadership on Board of Trustees

No perspective on Dickinson’s current growth and development is fresher and more pertinent than that of a highly engaged student leader. Realizing this, Dickinson’s Board of Trustees voted in 2011 to bring that youthful voice to the table, reserving two spots on the board for Young Alumni Trustees (YAT).

Named at Commencement, YATs are self-motivated Dickinsonians who are eager to help shape the careers and lives of future generations of students. They serve a two-year term and play a key role on the committees to which they are assigned, providing a valued perspective and helping to strengthen ties between the board and young alumni and the student body.

Dickinson's current YATs are Margot Cardamone ’14, who earned a dual degree in Italian studies and history last spring and now teaches in Charlotte, N.C., through Teach for America; and Andrew Chesley ’13, who majored in economics and mathematics and is currently studying at Columbia Law School.

“The board members all love Dickinson so much, and they are constantly thinking of ways to improve the institution,” said Cardamone. “They’ve really taken the time to get to know me and where I’m coming from. ... It’s an honor to be surrounded by such brilliant and influential people and to have my opinions seriously considered in decisions that are important to me.”

YAT applications are now being accepted, and the class of 2015 member selected for trusteeship will be announced during the 2015 graduation ceremony. The deadline for 2015 YAT applications is Feb. 2.
