On Patriot Day, the nation remembers the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, and those who died in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The day also serves as a reminder that the U.S. military has been working at home and around the world for the last 13 years to make sure this kind of tragedy never happens again.

For members of Dickinson’s ROTC program, Patriot Day is a personal reminder of why they joined the military and just how serious their mission is.

“On the day the attack happened, when I left school, I remember coming back home there were people coming in from lower Manhattan that were covered with dust,” says Brooklyn’s Chris Brogger ’15. “A lot of them were injured. It was part of the reason why I decided that I wanted to serve in the military—because I wanted to help ensure that nobody else would have to go through what the country went through on that day.”
