On campus for his 80th class reunion during Alumni Weekend, Dr. Ben James ’34 enhanced his “Mr. Dickinson” moniker when he also became President Ben James, if only for a day.

“Ben and I had a conversation at the beginning of the year, where he shared with me his history at Dickinson,” said President Nancy A. Roseman. “I said, ‘Ben, the only thing you have never been is the president of Dickinson. We need to do something about that someday.' ” Someday came June 14, 2014, as Roseman and Dickinson’s Board of Trustees named James Honorary President of the Day.

“I think it’s an honor, and I know it’s a joy,” James said, “to have the president of Dickinson College give this expression of love for the college, for both of us.”
