Interns honor women in Congress

Among the dignitaries at the dinner, held at the Ritz Carlton in Washington, D.C., was Nancy Johnson, a retired member of the U.S. House of Representatives (R-CT). Last spring, Johnson spoke with the Dickinson College policy studies Foundations class about legislative activity regarding drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Dickinson students at the dinner were Matt Stark '09, a policy management major who is interning with the Coalition for Government Procurement, Teresa Matthews '09, a law & policy major who is interning with The Downey McGrath Group, and Nell Etheredge '09, a law & policy major who is interning with the Federal Relations Office of Gov. Deval Patrick (D-MA).
The Dickinson Semester in Washington, coordinated by Professor of Political Science Jim Hoefler, provides students with the opportunity to earn four credits during a semester of experiential immersion in the nation's capital. The program is conducted in partnership with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars which, since its inception in 1975, has provided more than 35,000 students with comprehensive, hands-on learning experiences.
